The resolve to fully disconnect comes in a triumphant moment. It’s gotta be one app that covers BOTH computer and phone. WTF is that? You can set Freedom so yr restrictions can’t be undone no matter what. That just means I’ll be 30 games into Draw Something before I snap back and re-focus on the StumbleUpon app I’ve been consumed with over another lost night. Some distraction-blockers do a great job working individually with ALL the popular time-suck apps to block them neatly and entirely. I’ll have slowly navigated the entire world wide web before I realize that “downloading Netscape super quick to look something up for the story” turned into losing a night to online bullshit. Or they cover all browsers EXCEPT a couple weirdo ones. Some “focus apps” only cover one browser. But I absolutely need the help of an app that can shut down my internet and apps. (And wow, this is sounding like some super rote sales pitch… but yeah.) Having discipline is fantastic, and ya need it even after distractions are gone. “One of the most important apps I use is the ONE distraction-blocker complete and hardcore enough to work. (It was a comment for this impressive post, which explored all sorts of solutions.) Hopefully it can help and pay you back some (and doesn’t seem like I’m spamming myself). I did a less impressive breakdown of distraction-blocker apps recently. I took the time to read through every single comment and created a follow up post based on your input Update: You guys are amazing!! So much support and great information. This obviously doesn’t work because I need to be able to look at my calendar at vantage point, don’t buy it pay phone bill every month), it won’t show up on the calendar until the day of. Mindlist seemed like it could be the best overallĮdit: I paid for Mindlist. Microsoft To Do and Habitica were the best to do list options available. I tried 18 different ones, none were ideal. TLDR I wanted an app to consolidate my calendar, to do lists and notes. Please let me know if you have any input or advice :) I think I'm going to pay for Mindlist and see how that goes, otherwise, I'll probably just stick to the 2-3 apps I'm currently using to try to stay organized and productive There were some great apps here but none that included even most of the items on my wishlist. Tally – Good for if you're trying to make or break a habit but not what I'm looking for Will likely purchase to seeĭailyToDo – Looks promising at first glance but actually one of the worst on the list Mindlist – Not free but looks like it could be a decent option for $6.99, the calendar option comes with premium but I can’t preview it so idk if it's any good. Todoreminder – This looks like it was created for a school project Readdle Calendars – Everything is stuck behind a paywallĪny.do – There’s potential here, does anyone know how to set up reoccurring tasks? If it had a calendar function, I'd be sold Microsoft To Do – This is one of the nicest to do lists. Productive - Would be good for creating habits but it isn't what I'm looking for, no calendar or to do lists I'm personally not a fan of the Pomodoro technique but if you are, check this out If someone tells me this is wrong, this app has potentialįlora - This is more for focusing than staying organized. TickTick - The website says in order to create a reoccurring task I have to set it up on the web version. Its the most intuitive and one my favorite to do lists but there's no calendar function :( Habitica - I was surprised that I liked this one. Todoist - Pretty good but not as intuitive as I would’ve liked, reminders are premium feature which I think is a dealbreaker for me Here’s my brief review of the 18 I downloaded last night easy to use/intuitive/not overwhelming in any way to do lists (with the ability to create reoccuring tasks for things I need reminding to do every day) a calendar (with the ability to view it by both day and month, not unlike the iphone calendar app) I was looking for an app that could be my one place to turn to stay productive I’ll try keep it brief because I know attention isn't our strong suit
